- Manufactured by DarthDesigner, the MOC-178041 Los Angeles Class | Nuclear Submarine - 1/300 Scale is inspired by the U.S. Navy's nuclear submarines. Through careful design revisions, it embodies structural integrity and aesthetics, making it a valuable addition to any collection.
- The Los Angeles-class submarines, also known as the 688-class, are nuclear-powered fast attack submarines (SSNs) in service in the U.S. Navy. With a total of 62 submarines built from 1972 to 1996 and another 23 built to the improved 688i standard, they remain a formidable force, with 24 still in active service in 2024 and making up nearly half of the U.S. Navy's fleet of fast attack submarines. These submarines are named after U.S. cities, breaking away from the tradition of naming attack submarines after sea creatures. Notable exceptions include the USS Hyman G. Rickover, named after the "Father of the Nuclear Navy." When reflecting on the naming convention, Rickover once remarked, "Fish don't choose."
