DD-459 Destroyer Military Ship building blocks
- Designed and licensed by ny152 halle, this model restores the DD-459 used in World War II and is now housed in the New Jersey Museum.
- DD-459 is the second ship of the U.S. Navy named after Bartlett Laffey. On March 5, 1864, Sailor Laffey was awarded the Medal of Honor for his resistance against Confederate forces.
- The ship, an Allen M. Sumner-class destroyer, was laid down and launched during World War II in 1943 and commissioned in February 1944. She was nicknamed the "Ship That Would Not Die" for her bravery during the Normandy invasion and the Battle of Okinawa, where she withstood relentless attacks from conventional bombers and the infamous kamikaze attacks. Today, DD-459 stands as a National Historic Landmark and Museum Ship at Patriot's Point in Charleston, South Carolina.
