- "The E-3 Sentry is an "airborne early warning and control aircraft" developed and operated by the USAF, NATO, and the air forces of Chile, France, and Saudi Arabia; this aircraft is derived from the 707 airliner and provides: all-weather surveillance, command, control, and communications. Its distinctive feature is the rotating radar dome (rotodome) above the fuselage with a diameter of 30 feet (9 m), which provides a range of more than 250 miles (400 km) for low-flying targets and a range of 400 miles (650 km) for medium and high-flying targets.
