- Designed and authorized by count_of_brick, this model is based on the German Type VII submarine from WWII. The VII submarines of the Wolfpack fleet featured four bow and one external stern torpedo tubes. They typically carried 11 torpedoes and were very maneuverable on the surface. The submarines and fleet together formed naval convoys that were very fast and maneuverable in both attack and defense. This model is well designed, sturdy and aesthetically pleasing, with fun in assembly taken into account to provide high ornamental and collection value.
- The wolfpack attack was a convoy attack tactic in World War II. It was used primarily by German Navy submarines in the Battle of the Atlantic and by U.S. Navy submarines in the Pacific War. The idea of coordinated submarine attacks on convoys was proposed in World War I but was unsuccessful. During World War II, the German wolfpack attack had considerable success in the Atlantic but was ultimately defeated by the Allies. In early 1917, ocean-going submarine commander Hermann Bauer proposed establishing submarine patrol lines in the convoy lanes to concentrate attacks on any reported convoys.
- The Type VII was the most widely used submarine of the war and the most produced submarine class in history. A total of 703 submarines were built. The Type VII was the most numerous submarine type involved in the Battle of the Atlantic.
