- The sleek hull was designed and authorized by count_of_brick and is based on famous warships from World War II. It is equipped with turrets that carry various weapons.
- The ship was built from 1929 to 1931 under the terms of the Treaty of Versailles at the Reichsmarinewerft Wilhelmshaven. After the Deutschland class, the Leipzig class was one of the largest new ships in the Reichsmarine.
- The Leipzig had its first combat missions between summer 1936 and spring 1937 during the Spanish Civil War, where it was damaged in heavy seas in the Bay of Biscay.
- In the early days of World War II, the Leipzig was involved in several minefield operations on the east coast of England and in trade wars in the Skagerrak and Kattegat.
